The mother of Alexander Loganov, who was convicted of murdering his wife Elena, had petitioned a court to be granted custody of her two granddaughters. The woman also sought to strip custody from the victim«s mother, Natalia Kosheleva. This was reported on February 2 on social media by the case»s lawyer, Ekaterina Shumyakina.

Elena Loganova was only 26 years old at the time of her disappearance.

The court rejected the claim. The children of the murdered Elena Loganova remain under the guardianship of her mother.

Loganov maintained to investigators that he had strangled his wife.

«The girls remain where they are loved more than life itself. Where they are cared for, where the memory of their mother is honored, not where attempts are made to erase her memory by forcing communication with the family of the man who took her life. You cannot entrust upbringing to those who raised a murderer. Evil cannot dictate its terms,» stated Ekaterina Shumyakina.

According to her, there are lines that must not be crossed and the court «took the side of conscience.»

Elena Loganova went missing on July 25, 2021, and for over a year she was unsuccessfully searched for by police, volunteers, and a private detective. Everything changed in August 2022: her husband Alexander was detained for distributing pornographic materials. While in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO), he confessed to murdering his wife and the mother of their children.

As Alexander told investigators, that day at around 3 p.m., Elena left home «to go shopping for clothes,» and he walked with their daughters, put them to bed, and intended to take some bags and suitcases to the garage. It was later discovered that the victim«s phone had been unreachable since the morning.

In October 2022, Elena Loganova«s body was found on a riverbank in the Spassky District.

In November 2023, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Ryazan sentenced Alexander Loganov to 11 years in a penal colony. However, as lawyer Ekaterina Shumyakina stated, he went to the special military operation (SMO) and went missing over six months ago.
