A courier for a well-known marketplace from Volzhsky played the role of the Grinch: on New Year«s Eve, he stole a powerful video card from someone else»s package and then simply quit. When the police tracked him down, they found neither the money nor the video card from the enthusiast of expensive components.

The approximate value of the stolen video card is 65,000 rubles (about $800 at current rates). That«s the same price as, for example, NVIDIA fourth or fifth series models on the marketplace.

The loss was noticed in the Ilovlinsky District, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region.

«The detainee, while performing his duties delivering goods, opened the box and stole the video card. Then he sold the stolen item and used the money at his own discretion,» the department reported.

Whether the shocking rise in component prices was one of the motives for the theft is unknown. However, in current realities, RAM kits that have soared by more than 300% are now much more expensive than video cards.

They, like graphics processors, have met the same fate: if five years ago miners inflated prices, now for the RAM shortage, «thanks» should be said to the creators of neural networks. By the way, we wrote about this in more detail in our material.

This, by the way, is far from the first attempt at theft of goods by young marketplace employees. In January, for example, in the Sovetsky District, a 19-year-old employee of a pickup point took out clothes and shoes worth 22,000 rubles (about $275 at current rates) and then sold everything at the market.

Another, much more expensive incident, was two months ago in Volzhsky. There, an enterprising 18-year-old employee of a pickup point organized a whole scheme with «dead souls,» under whose names she ordered goods and then simply took them home. The damage then exceeded 65,000 rubles (about $800 at current rates).
