Chelyabinsk man uses prank bank notes to buy watches in Kurgan
A 28-year-old man from Chelyabinsk has been detained in Kurgan region for allegedly using counterfeit prank bank notes to purchase goods, facing fraud charges.

In Kurgan region, a 28-year-old resident of Chelyabinsk has been detained for paying in stores with prank bank notes.

According to the Kurgan Regional Police Department, about a week ago, police in Kurgan began receiving reports from retail representatives that a young man was paying for goods with prank bank tickets worth two thousand rubles (approximately $22).
«I exchanged counterfeit money—4,000 »dubles«—for watches, and they gave me change. I bought the »dubles« in Chelyabinsk at a stationery store for 100 rubles (about $1) for ten pieces. I live in Chelyabinsk, and I came to Kurgan to make money,» the suspect said, adding that he admits guilt and repents.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Fraud.» Police identified the man as a 28-year-old previously convicted resident of Chelyabinsk. He had been active in Kurgan before leaving for Shadrinsk.
The suspect has been detained. Authorities seized more than ten prank bank tickets and money obtained illegally. Notably, during the incidents, an acquaintance of the suspect who is on the federal wanted list was present and has also been detained.
