Since the last century, Novokuznetsk has held the status of one of Russia«s metallurgical centers, where leading specialized enterprises operate. Although to a lesser extent, many also consider it a mining city.

There are three outlets of the fast-food chain in Novokuznetsk and two in the city of Kemerovo.

The editorial staff of NGS42.RU found out who else, besides metallurgists and coal miners, is among the largest organizations in Novokuznetsk today. The list includes companies officially registered in the southern capital of Kuzbass with the highest annual revenue.

The ranking did not include «Evraz ZSMK», «RUSAL Novokuznetsk», and «Kuznetskie Ferroalloys» (Kuznetsk Ferroalloys), as they have not published financial reports for a long time.

10. LLC «Yuzhny Razrez»

Although times have become tough for coal miners, they remain among the leaders in Kuzbass and Novokuznetsk in terms of production scale and financial flows. Our top 10 opens with one such enterprise—«Yuzhny Razrez».

According to the company«s website, it is engaged in coal mining in the territories of Novokuznetsky and Prokopyevsky districts. The main asset is the »Yuzhnaya Glubokaya« mine.

For 2024, LLC «Yuzhny Razrez» reported revenue of 27.2 billion rubles (approximately $300 million at current rates) and a net loss of 4.9 billion rubles (approximately $54 million). The majority stake in the organization, 75%, is controlled by the international firm LLC «Progress», whose ultimate owners are hidden in the legal entity database. Another 25% belongs to Alexander Savitsky. He is also a co-owner of the coal trading company «Arkada», which we will discuss further.

8-9. JSC «Vkusno i Tochka» and LLC «Klub Otel»

We have combined these two organizations because they are part of the same holding structure controlling the fast-food chain «Vkusno — i Tochka» (the Russian ex-McDonald«s). Moreover, there is a relatively small difference in their financial indicators.

Last year, LLC «Klub Otel» showed revenue of 27.4 billion rubles (approximately $300 million) and net profit of 27.7 billion rubles (approximately $300 million). For JSC «Vkusno i Tochka»—30.5 and 30.7 billion rubles (approximately $336 million and $338 million) respectively. As we reported in a separate article, the first legal entity is a subsidiary of the second and shares its revenues with it.

Both companies belong to Novokuznetsk entrepreneur Alexander Govor, who in 2022 bought out (and later renamed) the Russian business of McDonald«s after the foreign brand owners left Russia. He is also a co-owner of »Neftekhimservis«, which manages an oil refinery (we will mention it later in the text), and has assets in fuel sales, private medicine, hotel business, and other areas.

7. JSC «SGMC»

According to its website, the «Siberian Mining and Metallurgical Company» (SGMC) includes several organizations. These are the «West Siberian Electrometallurgical Plant», also known as «manganese», where ferroalloys are produced, as well as enterprises for dolomite mining, scrap metal processing, large-sized tires, and wood processing.

In 2024, SGMC«s revenue amounted to 42.6 billion rubles (approximately $469 million). Net profit reached 2.1 billion rubles (approximately $23 million).

The chairman of the board of directors of the company is former top manager of Evraz Alexander Rybkin, who is also considered the main shareholder. Besides SGMC, Rybkin has a stake in another large Novokuznetsk enterprise, «Vtorresurs-Pereработка» (we will return to it shortly), heads investment companies «Kapital-VK» and «Invest-VK», and is the de facto owner of the large private school «Intellekt Akademiya».

6. LLC «Novaya Gornaya UK»

«Novaya Gornaya» manages several Kuzbass enterprises in the coal industry. Among them are the «Bolshevik» and «Antonovskaya» mines, the «Mezhdurechye» and «Yuzhnaya» open pits, as well as two processing plants.

Last year, the company ended with revenue of 58.1 billion rubles (approximately $639 million). Net profit is estimated at one billion rubles (approximately $11 million).

The ultimate owners of «Novaya Gornaya UK» are listed in equal shares of 33.3% each: Sergey Zavriev, Andrey Kobyakov, and Dmitry Krovnov. The latter also works as the general director of one of the main enterprises in the organization«s structure—JSC »Mezhdurechye«.

5. LLC «Vtorresurs-Pereработка»

What the company does can be understood from its name. This organization processes scrap metal and metallurgical waste, after which it sells the resulting charge, crushed stone, and other products.

For 2024, the enterprise reported revenue of 60.1 billion rubles (approximately $661 million). Net profit amounted to 438.2 million rubles (approximately $4.8 million).

In the legal entity database, the co-owners of LLC «Vtorresurs-Pereработка» are listed as the owner of SGMC Alexander Rybkin, as well as one of the «daughters» of the metallurgical giant Evraz, registered in Luxembourg.

4. LLC «Greenlight»

One of the leaders in the Russian and Kazakh markets for auto parts sales operates under the Rossko brand. It is not often mentioned as a Novokuznetsk company, although it has been registered here for several years.

Last year, the organization reported a record revenue for itself of 81.7 billion rubles (approximately $899 million). Net profit is estimated at 5.5 billion rubles (approximately $61 million).

LLC «Greenlight» belongs to Novosibirsk businessman Sergey Kiziev. He is also the founder and owner of the Fit Service auto service network.

3. JSC «Atrium»

The youngest company in our list was founded in 2024. It is engaged in wholesale sales of various grades of coal.

In its first year of operation, the organization showed revenue of 84.4 billion rubles (approximately $928 million). It brought its owners a net profit of 4 billion rubles (approximately $44 million).

The ultimate owners of JSC «Atrium» are not disclosed. The general director of the company is Eduard Gavrilin, who previously held a similar position at the «Taibinsky» open pit and at the firm for renting and leasing production equipment LLC «GPK». Both these organizations were absorbed in 2019 by the largest mining company in Kemerovo Oblast—«Kuzbassrazrezugol».

2. LLC «Arkada»

«Arkada» is another coal trader with a central office in Novokuznetsk. Notably, it is registered at the same address as JSC «Atrium», only in a different premises.

For 2024, the company indicated in its reports revenue of 113.1 billion rubles (approximately $1.24 billion). Net profit reached 370.2 million rubles (approximately $4.1 million).

The main founder of LLC «Arkada», with a 75% share, is co-owner of «Yuzhny Razrez» Alexander Savitsky. Another 25% belongs to Sergey Aivazyan, who is also among the owners of the Prokopyevsk company producing explosives «Vzryv-Resurs».

LLC «Arkada» was previously one of the founders of the enterprise «Resurs», which manages two open pits in the south of Kuzbass. Now, a 20% stake in this company is owned by entrepreneur and investor Gennady Aivazyan. Whether he is related to Sergey Aivazyan, and exactly how, is unknown.

1. JSC «Neftekhimservis»

The company «Neftekhimservis» is developing the «Yaysky Oil Refinery» in the north of Kuzbass. Its construction began in 2008, the first phase was launched in 2013, and the second in 2021. The third expansion phase was planned to be completed by 2027, but due to unfavorable economic conditions, the deadline was postponed to 2029.

In 2024, the revenue of the leader of our list amounted to 144.9 billion rubles (approximately $1.59 billion). However, the year ended with a net loss of 3.6 billion rubles (approximately $40 million).

The main shareholders of «Neftekhimservis» are the owner of the fast-food chain «Vkusno — i Tochka» Alexander Govor and his long-term partner Yury Kushnerov. They are also co-owners of the «Anzhersky Oil Refinery». Kushnerov additionally owns several other organizations in Novokuznetsk, including the city tennis center built by him.
