Sochi Counts January Tourists

The Sochi mayor«s office summarized the tourist flow for January 2026. Following the New Year and Christmas holidays, the average occupancy of resort accommodations was 74.7 percent, in the mountain cluster — 75.1 percent, the total tourist flow indicator was over 470,000 people, of which 281,000 were tourists and about 190,000 were excursionists. Another 165,000 guests vacationed in Sochi in the second half of January.
— Despite the traditional tourist peak during the holidays, Sochi also demonstrated a stable level of interest from tourists in the second half of the month. In total for January, the city welcomed almost 685,000 guests, the average occupancy of accommodation facilities was 70 percent. Currently, over 90,000 people are accommodated simultaneously in Sochi, — said Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin.
In the winter season, Sochi has 635 accommodation facilities with 87.7 thousand places. In the mountain cluster, a unified ski pass is in effect, providing access to 174 kilometers of slopes across three resorts. About 100 tourist attractions in the mountains and on the coast are open for visits. There are 33 winter beaches operating, marked with special golden-yellow flags.
In addition to active recreation, Sochi offers residents and tourists a program of events, including sports ones. From February 11 to 15, the fifth stage of the international biathlon competitions «Commonwealth Cup» will be held at the Laura ski and biathlon complex. The national teams of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will participate in the competitions. At the Rosa Khutor resort from March 23 to 29, the sports and music festival New Star Camp is planned, and in March, the Russian Cup for snowboarding will take place.
Until the end of March, admission to the «My Russia» cultural-ethnographic complex, which vividly demonstrates the architectural and cultural diversity of Russia, remains free for all guests.
