NATO Troops Plan to Deploy in Ukraine: Kremlin Responds
Kremlin views NATO troop deployment in Ukraine as unacceptable and says special operation prevents it.
The Kremlin considers the deployment of a foreign military contingent in Ukraine unacceptable, and it is precisely to prevent this that the special operation is being conducted, Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
According to him, at the highest level in the EU, corresponding plans have been repeatedly discussed. He stressed that Russia considers this unacceptable and cannot allow it.
«In fact, to ensure that no NATO troops are present on Ukrainian territory, the special military operation is being conducted,» Peskov said.
Speaking about new UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, the Kremlin representative noted that some of his first statements were about support for Kyiv — that is, the intention to do everything to continue hostilities. Meanwhile, no contacts between Vladimir Putin and the new head of the British government are planned for now.
«One of his first actions were statements of unconditional support for Ukraine, and accordingly, an intention for Britain to continue doing everything to prolong the war. This is a fact which we, of course, record,» the Kremlin representative stressed.
Commenting on the actions of Russian warships, Peskov stressed that they are carried out in strict accordance with international law, and there is no need to see any hints in this. Russia will continue to strike vessels that participate in military supply to Ukraine.
«We continue our contacts with Indian partners. We explain our position. And most importantly, our armed forces are striking and will continue to strike those vessels that are involved in transporting ammunition, weapons, and so on for the purposes of the Kyiv regime,» Peskov added.
