Japanese Visa Center in St. Petersburg to Open on February 12

The Consulate General of Japan in St. Petersburg reported that the visa center will begin operations on February 12. The information was made public on January 31.
Document submission will take place from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Olympic Plaza business center. The Consulate General itself will stop accepting documents after February 11.
A fee of 970 rubles (approximately $12 at current rates) is charged for document submission per applicant. The visa itself remains free for Russian citizens.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia notes a significant increase in tourist flow to Japan: over the last period it grew by 96.3%, reaching a historical maximum. Compared to 2019, the number of Russian tourists increased by 62.5%.
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), 194,900 Russian citizens visited Japan in 2025.
