American actress Catherine O«Hara, known for her role in the film »Home Alone,« has died. This was reported on Friday, January 30, by the publication Variety, citing the artist»s manager.
The star was 71 years old. The cause of death has not yet been established.
O«Hara gained widespread fame after playing Kate McCallister — Kevin»s mother in the films «Home Alone» and «Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.»
Catherine O«Hara was born on March 4, 1954, in Canada. Her career began with the Canadian comedy sketch show Second City Television, for which she won her first Emmy Award. Then she starred in the films »After Hours,« »Beetlejuice,« and the first two »Home Alone« movies. In 1992, O»Hara married production designer Bo Welch. The couple had two sons.
The actress last appeared in public in September 2025 at the Emmy Awards.
Catherine had a rare genetic condition — situs inversus, in which her heart was located on the right side instead of the left. Such a feature is considered very dangerous, although the artist herself noted that it did not affect her health in any way.
