Chita cyclists set off from Yakutia to Magadan

Two residents of Chita have set off on a bike trip along the route Yakutsk–Magadan. This is the second attempt — last year«s ride had to be canceled due to weather conditions in Yakutia. This was reported in the VK group “VeloCulture Chita.”

“A year later, the stars have aligned, and here we are on the train, albeit delayed, racing to Yakutsk to pedal along the Kolyma highway to the Sea of Okhotsk, to the edge of our vast country,” the post says.

The cyclists started their journey on July 19 from Nizhny Bestyakh station. They plan to spend 12–16 days on the route to the sea. Some sections are unpaved. They will have to ride about 2,000 kilometers without asphalt.

“Let’s do this ride together, pedal with Zabaykalye-style vigor and gusto,” the travelers encourage themselves at the start of the route.

In two days, the cyclists from Chita covered 250 kilometers across Yakutia and were impressed by the local nature.

“The Yakut landscape along the road resembles alpine meadows or Switzerland more — at least I like to think it’s just as beautiful there. Around almost every bend in the road there is a lake in a small forest or a swamp. The picture is one of complete tranquility, if the weather is sunny and the sky is clear,” follows from the travel diary.

On the third day, they crossed the Aldan River by ferry, spent the night near the village of Keskil, and moved through Khandyga towards Ust-Nera.
