Billionaire Prokhorov Surfaces in New Epstein Files
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice released a new batch of files related to the high-profile case of financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was tried for sexualized violence against minors and involving them in prostitution and exploitation.
MSK1.RU reviewed the Epstein files and found mentions of 60-year-old billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. We explain in what context the Russian businessman was discussed by the American financier and what secrets became known worldwide.
In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution and was convicted for raping a minor, and in 2019 he was arrested again for human trafficking and involving people in prostitution. Before the trial, the financier committed suicide in his cell.
Epstein was considered the creator of a network for involving underage girls in prostitution and sexual exploitation. Some of them he raped himself or sold to wealthy clients. He also organized closed parties on his island, where, according to witnesses, orgies took place.
The Epstein files amount to three million pages. They mention former U.S. President Bill Clinton, current President Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, the brother of the current King of the United Kingdom Charles III, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, illusionist David Copperfield, actors John Kerry and Dustin Hoffman, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and many others.
Separately, we note that the mention of someone«s surname in the »Epstein files« does not necessarily mean the person is guilty of anything.
«Prokhorov Didn»t Take His Eyes Off Me All Evening«
The name Mikhail Prokhorov was actively mentioned in 2014. In mid-May, a sender, whose name is hidden, reported to Epstein that her sister«s husband, who is in the top management of Sberbank, is planning to go somewhere. Also, he or she indicated that a certain friend is working to introduce her or him personally to Prokhorov.
The next message is dated 22 May 2014. In Russia, a forum was taking place where the country«s top officials gathered. Specifically, that day, a closed party by Soho Rooms was held at the Gymnazia restaurant on Konnogvardeysky Boulevard. According to Gazeta SPB, those present included St. Petersburg prosecutor Sergey Litvinenko and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
«Yes, I»m slowly getting to know people. I had dinner with someone from Sberbank, and now I«m at a birthday party for Russia»s most famous DJ (DJ Smash — he«s like Testo (probably referring to Tiësto. — Ed.)), I saw Prokhorov in the same restaurant with not the best company. He greeted our DJ,» it says.
The description could also fit the celebration of DJ«s birthday at the White Park restaurant in Nova Riga (Moscow region). It took place the day after the forum»s informal party. That evening, DJ Smash descended to the guests by helicopter. The event was attended by stars from «Real Boys» Anton Bogdanov and Vladimir Selivanov, the group «Vintage,» and others.
The following message, dated 23 May 2014, suggests it was about the forum.
«It seems we»re holding all the big parties (Deripaska, Prokhorov) with my friends from McKinsey & Company — that«s much better than going alone or inviting Prokhorov»s rude assistant. P.S. My friends told me that at the first few forums, there were many girls/prostitutes looking for guys. Eventually, it became too much, and the organizers said not to let them into the forum anymore,« the message says.
The next day, 24 May 2014, Epstein«s person finally managed to cross paths personally with Mr. Prokhorov at the forum.
«The tall guy on the left — Prokhorov! He didn»t take his eyes off me all evening! He said that when I went to the toilet, he kept looking around for me! It was better not to talk to him much at the party — it would harm my reputation. I«m sure I»ll see him soon or hear from him,« follows from the message sent to the American financier.
On 2 March 2016, Mikhail Prokhorov«s name is mentioned in the context of a possible meeting with one of the world»s largest investors, Warren Buffett.
«Prokhorov asks to be introduced to Warren Buffett. We can arrange that,» writes Epstein«s interlocutor.
That same evening, they ask for Buffett«s autograph for Prokhorov. Probably, a personal contact couldn»t be arranged.
«Glad to see you last night. On March 8, a Belarusian blonde is coming to me. I strongly recommend continuing relations with Naya because she knows all the girls (I don»t date anymore). And also, if you see Warren Buffett, couldn«t you ask him for an autograph for Mikhail Prokhorov. I would be very grateful,» follows from the message.
Prokhorov also appears in correspondence from 23 December 2017.
«I was told that in Moscow there was a guy who gave girls necklaces with keys, do you know about him?» Epstein asks his interlocutor.
«It could be Prokhorov. He gives girls necklaces, like these,» they reply.
In 2018, two messages were forwarded to Jeffrey Epstein. In one from 18 March, it talks about girls that the financier«s interlocutor found. He describes them as »very good, young, and poor.«
«I»ll finish things this week. Meet this one, she«s not a beauty queen, but we both really like her,» they write to Epstein.
The second message forwarded to Epstein is more mysterious. It quotes Prokhorov«s words about some entrepreneur who is in rehab at a resort in Florida.
«You don»t know him personally? — Prokhorov allegedly said. — His business is illegal. He«s currently in rehabilitation in Palm Beach,» conveys Epstein«s interlocutor.
The link indicated in the message leads to an interview with entrepreneur Denis Sukhotin, who owns the investment company FxPro.
On 25 October of the same year, in a message forwarded to Epstein, a series of names are listed that allegedly have relation to some murder.
«The killers — Prokhorov and Baybakov (oligarch and collector, ex-president of ONEXIM, which is owned by Prokhorov) and their people, Zampolli Paolo (Italian businessman, now U.S. Special Representative for Global Partnerships), Anna Konchakovskaya (probably referring to a go-go dancer better known as Moryachka), and everyone who works for them. Prokhorov has something to hide,» recounts Epstein«s interlocutor.
In the second message, the topic turned to drugs: «No, only this test that I sent you a few days ago, where I was negative for cocaine. I stopped using cocaine.»
MSK1.RU was unable to contact Mikhail Prokhorov or his assistants via any of the numbers available to the editorial office.
