Wind and snow forecast for Arkhangelsk Oblast on Thursday

In Arkhangelsk Oblast, night frosts are giving way to daytime warming, and it is becoming windy in the region. February 5 is no exception. Forecasters from the Northern UGMS (Hydrometeorological Service) reported on the weather for Thursday.
It will be cloudy with clearings. Snow will fall in most areas. Glaze and rime deposits are expected in places. Wind northwest and west 5-10 m/s, gusts 12-14 m/s.
At night, temperatures in the east and southeast of the region will be -12°C (10°F) to -17°C (1°F), dropping to -25°C (-13°F) with clearing. During the day, -5°C (23°F) to -10°C (14°F).
Rescuers also warned that starting February 4, in Mezensky District, an accumulation up to the criteria of a hazardous phenomenon is expected: a complex glaze and rime deposit of 35 mm or more. This phenomenon is considered dangerous for power lines.
Due to bad and changeable weather on February 2, a large-scale emergency power outage occurred in the Pinezhsky and Kholmogorsky districts of Pomorye. 9,171 homes were left without power, as well as 85 socially important facilities, including schools, kindergartens, and boiler houses. Some northerners reported that heating and water supply also failed in the villages.
