The frosts, which have already become tiresome for Perm residents, will not go away easily: the remainder of January will be colder than normal in Perm Krai. When the cold will finally give way to warming was explained by Doctor of Geographical Sciences Andrey Shikhov on the Telegram channel of the GIS Center of Perm State National Research University (PSNRU).

«The abnormally cold period will last until Monday, 26 January, inclusive,» the specialist reported. «The average air temperature in the southern part of the region during these days is expected to be almost 15 degrees Celsius (27 degrees Fahrenheit) below normal. This anomaly in the south is due to an independent anticyclone center forming there over the weekend, maintaining clear, windless weather with strong nighttime cooling down to -30 °C (-22 °F) and below. In the rest of the territory, it may already be warmer on Sunday, especially in the north.»

From 27 January, a brief but very noticeable warming with snowfall is possible: thermometers will show from -8 to -3 °C (18 to 27 °F). In the last five days of January, the average temperature will be close to normal, but sharp fluctuations are likely due to a southwestern cyclone.

Earlier, we reported that due to severe frosts, a storm warning was declared in Perm Krai.
