Vladivostok Weather to Sharply Worsen: Snow and Cold

Weather conditions are expected to worsen in Vladivostok on 5 February. After two warm days, wind will pick up again and snow will fall. Icy conditions will form on roads, with air temperatures from -5 to -7°C (23 to 19°F), feeling like -15°C (5°F).

According to meteorologists at Primhydromet (Primorsky Hydrometeorological Service), a blizzard with wind speeds of 17–20 meters per second (38–45 mph) is expected in the afternoon. Residents and visitors of Vladivostok are asked to refrain from using personal vehicles if possible. In the waters of Amur Bay, ice shifts and crack formation are possible today. Fishermen should exercise caution and not venture far from shore.
Glaze ice is a dense icy crust that forms on any surfaces (trees, wires, ground) when supercooled rain and fog freeze at temperatures between 0°C and -10°C (32°F to 14°F).
Icy conditions (black ice) are a thin layer of ice or compacted snow that forms only on the ground or horizontal surfaces after a thaw due to freezing of meltwater or wet snow.
Across Primorye, snow is also expected during the day, heavy in places. Icy conditions and snow buildup will form on roads. The wind will be moderate from the north. On the evening of 5 February, it will strengthen to strong on the southern coast. Daytime temperatures across the region will range from -4 to -9°C (25 to 16°F), and in the south from -3 to +2°C (27 to 36°F).
In Ussuriysk, it will also be cloudy. Light to occasionally moderate snow is possible in the morning and afternoon, with icy conditions and snow buildup on roads in places. The north wind will be moderate but will strengthen to strong in the afternoon. Morning temperatures -12°C (10°F), daytime up to -5 to -7°C (23 to 19°F), feeling approximately 5–7 degrees colder.
In Nakhodka, heavy snow at times. Icy conditions and snow buildup on roads. The north and northeast wind will be moderate, strong in the evening. Morning temperatures -7 to -9°C (19 to 16°F), daytime rising to -1 to +1°C (30 to 34°F). Feels like -3°C (27°F) during the day and -20°C (-4°F) in the evening.
