«We expect a thaw on 6 February. Warmth associated with the southern cyclone is moving in. We expect light to moderate precipitation. It will be snow and wet snow. It won«t be heavy, but it will be windy, so because of the wind it may seem like there is a lot of snow,» explained Natalya Kichanova, head of the meteorological forecasting department at the West Siberian UGMS.
The region is also expected to experience wind gusts of 18 to 20 m/s.
But on 10 February, a cold snap will arrive, and by mid-month, nighttime temperatures may drop to -30°C (-22°F).
