Snowfalls Return to Voronezh Oblast: When to Expect?

In the coming days, the weather in Voronezh Oblast will bring surprises again: after a week of anomalous frosts, the region will face snowfall and a sharp warming. According to the regional Hydrometeorological Center, a noticeable temperature increase will begin this Friday, February 6, and precipitation will arrive on Saturday, February 7. This will be the first significant snowfall since late January.

Recall that on January 30 and 31, heavy snowfalls already hit the region, bringing up to 82% of the monthly precipitation norm over two days and significantly increasing the snow cover.

On Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, the weather will still be determined by a cold anticyclone. At night across the region, temperatures are expected to be -23 to -28°C (about -9 to -18°F), during the day -11 to -16°C (12 to 3°F). In Voronezh, at night the thermometers will drop to -25 to -27°C (-13 to -17°F), during the day it will be -14 to -16°C (7 to 3°F), no significant precipitation is expected. The turning point will begin on Friday, February 6, when the anticyclone starts to retreat. The temperature will gradually rise: at night to -18 to -23°C (0 to -9°F), during the day to -8 to -13°C (18 to 9°F), and the wind will increase to 7-12 m/s. In the city, at night they forecast -20 to -22°C (-4 to -8°F), during the day -9 to -11°C (16 to 12°F).

The main day of changes is Saturday, February 7. Cloudy weather with precipitation is expected: light snow in places at night, and during the day – snow, wet snow, and in the south of the region rain is possible. The temperature will continue to rise rapidly: at night -9 to -14°C (16 to 7°F), and during the day around 0 to -5°C (32 to 23°F). In Voronezh: at night -10 to -12°C (14 to 10°F), during the day around -3 to -5°C (27 to 23°F).
