Sharp warming, wet snow as southern cyclone nears Tomsk

A southern cyclone will bring warmth, gusty winds, and wet snow to Tomsk. Air temperatures in the city could reach -1°C (30°F). Svetlana Ryukhtina, head of the meteorology department at the Tomsk Hydrometeorological Center, told NGS70.RU.

«We expect an advection of air mass from the south; another cyclone is approaching. But it won’t last long: the warming will begin on February 6, and as early as February 7 it will start dropping again,» Svetlana Ryukhtina said.

According to the forecaster, in Tomsk on February 6 the air temperature will be -1 to -3°C (30 to 27°F), in the region -1 to -6°C (30 to 21°F), and in northern areas -11 to -12°C (12 to 10°F). Precipitation is expected from light to moderate — in the form of snow and wet snow. The wind will be gusty — up to 18 meters per second.
