Sharp Cooling and Fog. Forecaster Gives Outlook for First Week of February in Yakutia

The first week of February in the central regions of the republic, including Yakutsk, promises cooling. This was reported by 14.RU, citing meteorologist Sargylana Nikitina of the Yakutsk Hydrometeorological Center. According to her, the low temperatures will be within the norm.
«A restructuring of atmospheric processes has begun. Under anticyclonic conditions, a decrease in the temperature background is expected. In the central regions, the entire current week is expected to be close to the norm: at night it will be around -40… -45 °C (-40… -49 °F) with freezing fogs, and during the day -30… -35 °C (-22… -31 °F). This also applies to Yakutsk,» Nikitina reported.
No warming is expected by the end of the week, although in January the weather had been mild for residents of Yakutia.
«For almost two weeks in January, Yakutsk had warm weather; it was an anomalous phenomenon. We had only minus 28 degrees of frost (-18 °F). Now the weather, on the contrary, is closer to the norm,» Sargylana Nikitina explained.
According to her, light snow is expected over most of the republic, and in the central regions, freezing fog in places. The wind in the Anabar and Bulun districts will be gusty up to 15–18 m/s, with a blizzard expected.
