Sharp Cold Snap Expected in Sverdlovsk Oblast

Meteorologists have warned of a significant temperature drop after heavy snowfall. Frosts are expected to reach as low as -25°C (-13°F).

Alexei Pulen, author of the Telegram channel «Weather in Yekaterinburg», reported an imminent sharp cold snap in Sverdlovsk Oblast.

The meteorologist stated: «A rapid and fairly significant cooling is expected on Thursday night, averaging -20 to -25°C (-4°F to -13°F), cloud cover will decrease, and precipitation will stop.»

According to the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, frosty weather will also set in Yekaterinburg, with the lowest temperatures expected at night.

Weather forecast for the city for the coming days:

  • 4 February: during the day the temperature will be -4°C (25°F), possible snow.
  • 5 February: at night the thermometer will drop to -22°C (-8°F), light precipitation expected, during the day it will be -17°C (1°F).
  • 6 February: no precipitation forecast, at night -19°C (-2°F), during the day -10°C (14°F).
  • 7 February: frost will begin to weaken, at night -16°C (3°F), during the day -9°C (16°F).

The day before, the Sverdlovsk Main Directorate of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) issued an emergency warning about heavy snowfall expected in some parts of the region on 4 February.
