Severe frosts return to Bashkortostan — forecasters weigh in

Severe frosts have returned to Bashkortostan: after a brief warm spell, residents of the region will again experience 30-degree cold (—30°C / —22°F). We examined the forecast from Bashgidromet (Bashkir Hydrometeorological Center) for today, 5 February. According to forecasters, an arctic front is to blame.

Cold air from the far North began to blow into Bashkortostan the previous evening, with nighttime temperatures locally reaching 31 degrees below zero (—31°C / —24°F).

Forecasters predict light snow toward the end of the week with daytime temperatures ranging from —16°C to —21°C (3°F to —6°F), and locally as warm as —11°C (12°F).

As forecasters say, nighttime temperatures may fall to —23°C to —28°C (—9°F to —18°F), and locally even to —33°C (—27°F). Daytime temperatures will be around —15°C to —20°C (5°F to —4°F). However, there will be almost no precipitation.

«The influx of cold across the republic will be short-lived. A rise in air temperature will begin at the end of the work week,» stated Bashgidromet.

According to Yandex.Weather, in Ufa at sunrise it will be —25°C (—13°F) and completely clear skies. During the day it will warm up to —19°C (—2°F). By night — to —17°C (1°F).

In Sterlitamak, it is expected to be —21°C (—6°F) in the morning, also with clear weather. By evening it will warm up to —12°C (10°F), but after sunset the temperature will drop to between —16°C and —20°C (3°F to —4°F).
