Meteorologists in Samara warn residents to brace for a series of severe weather events starting this week. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply, accompanied by snowstorms and blizzards.

The last month of winter starts with another weather surprise. Overnight into February 2, a snowstorm will begin in Samara, with thermometers showing -8… -10 °C (14…18°F). During the day on Monday, February 2, the temperature will not change. However, the intensity of precipitation will decrease.
«Overnight into Tuesday, February 3, it will get colder in Samara Oblast: -15… -20 °C (5… -4°F), in some places down to -25 °C (-13°F). Light snow will fall in a number of districts. During the day on Tuesday, February 3, it will «clear up» to -5… -10 °C (23…14°F), and in some places even to -15 °C (5°F). Across the oblast, heavy snow and a snowstorm are expected. The northwest wind during these 24 hours will blow at a speed of 3–8 meters per second. On roads—snow drifts,» reports Irina Vytagova, a meteorologist from Privolzhsk Hydromet.
Overnight into Wednesday, February 4, the region promises -21… -26 °C (-6… -15°F), with light snow falling. During the day, no precipitation, -16… -21 °C (3… -6°F). The speed and direction of the wind will remain the same as in the previous 24 hours.
At the same time, overall, the last month of winter in Samara, according to forecasts from specialists at the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, will be warmer than usual: the prevailing night air temperature will be -14… -9 °C (7…16°F), and daytime — -9… -4 °C (16…25°F). Normally, the average daily air temperature in February is -12… -8 °C (10…18°F).
