«Cleaning? The equipment just stands there, snow is rolled out by cars on the roads. But when the snow started to melt a bit, they went out to clean. The equipment goes out into the snow just to take photos for a report.»

Some residents believe there was little snow this year: «These pitiful 10 centimeters (4 inches) over the whole winter — is that »a lot«? 2014 had a lot, and the late 80s — there was snow. If a lot of snow falls in Rostov, the city will come to a standstill.»

«They spread poisonous reagents everywhere, which civilized cities and countries abandoned long ago. And the request not to drive on roads during snowfall is still only heeded by utility workers.»

«The city is always cleared only for cars, and pedestrians somehow trudge along on their own, according to the logic of utility workers. There are isolated cases when sidewalks are cleaned, but most often it»s better not to touch them at all, because they immediately get covered with an icy crust.«

«Vyatskaya Street: I haven»t seen a street cleaner once all winter.«

«I work from home remotely — and I»m very pleased with how the roads are cleaned. I just don«t use them.»

«And are they cleaned? On Lenin Street, they sprinkle salt or something, and that»s it.«

The last time Rostov was swept with snow was on January 15. Streets were covered, and by evening the city was in traffic jams. At night, utility services cleared the city. The next morning, the roads became cleaner, as shown by local residents.
