Preparing for Slush: Powerful Warm Wave to Hit Novosibirsk

A cyclonic system from central Russia is bringing unseasonably warm conditions to Siberia in late January.
Warm weather is expected in Novosibirsk from January 30 and over the upcoming weekend. A cyclone from central Russia will arrive in the region. This was reported by the West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service (West Siberian UGMOS).
“We expect a temperature increase because the cyclone will spread to us from its southern periphery and bring warmth. By Friday, we anticipate a significant rise in daytime temperatures to -5…-10 degrees Celsius (23…14°F),” explained Natalia Kichanova, head of the weather forecast department at the West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service.
Over the weekend, nighttime temperatures are forecast to be -12…-17 degrees Celsius (10…1°F), and daytime temperatures -6…-11 degrees Celsius (21…12°F).
The Hydrometeorological Center has compiled a forecast of anomalies for February — what Novosibirsk residents can expect.
