The first week of February will bring another snowfall to Perm. How long it will last and what temperatures to expect was detailed by Doctor of Geographical Sciences Andrey Shikhov in his Telegram channel «Dangerous Natural Phenomena of Perm Krai». We are publishing a detailed forecast.

Monday, February 2

Today during the day, it will warm up to -4 to -7 °C (25 to 19 °F) in the south of the region. In the evening, Perm will see -10 °C (14 °F), in the north — down to -15 °C (5 °F), and in the east — down to -20 °C (-4 °F).

Tuesday, February 3

From Tuesday morning, it will start getting colder in the west of the region, with temperatures dropping to -13 to -18 °C (9 to 0 °F). The cold front will reach Perm and stop.

In the middle of the day, a heavy snowfall will begin in the southern districts of the region and in Perm, bringing 25% of the monthly precipitation norm and lasting until Wednesday morning. During this time, the temperature will stay at -8 to -10 °C (18 to 14 °F).

Wednesday, February 4

On Wednesday morning, the snowfall will stop, then an arctic invasion will begin, with temperatures dropping by 8–10 °C. By evening, the entire region will be below -20 °C (-4 °F), in the southwest temperatures will drop to -25 °C (-13 °F), and the wind will increase the chill. The peak of the cold snap will arrive overnight into Thursday. Andrey Shikhov forecasts down to -25 °C (-13 °F) in Perm, and down to -30 °C (-22 °F) in the south of the region. In the north of Prikamye, there will be no strong cooling, and temperatures will remain at around -20 °C (-4 °F).

Thursday, February 5

On Thursday afternoon, temperatures may warm up to -12 to -14 °C (10 to 7 °F), with light snow. In the south of the region, frosts around -20 °C (-4 °F) will last all day.

Friday and Saturday

Overnight on Friday and Saturday, frosts down to -20 °C (-4 °F) will persist in the south of the region. In the north, it will be cloudy and -12 to -15 °C (10 to 5 °F) for two days. During the day, temperatures in the region will stay at -11 to -16 °C (12 to 3 °F).

Andrey Shikhov clarified: from mid-day Wednesday until Saturday, there will be almost no snowfall in the south of the region and in Perm.

Sunday, February 8

On the last day of the week, there is a high probability of a new heavy snowfall. At the same time, arctic air will begin to flow into Prikamye, which may cause a severe cold snap in the region in the middle of February.
