Novosibirsk weather: warming to +1°C with snow

In Novosibirsk, temperatures are expected to warm to +1°C (34°F) over the next few days. This was reported by the Federal State Budgetary Institution «West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service» (UGMS).

On the night of 5 February, temperatures in Novosibirsk will be between –21°C and –23°C (–6°F to –9°F), during the day the air will warm to between –11°C and –13°C (12°F to 9°F). The wind will be southeasterly at 3–8 m/s. The city will have variable cloud cover, mostly without precipitation. Roads will be icy in places.

In Novosibirsk Oblast, on the night of 5 February, the mercury will drop to between –18°C and –23°C (0°F to –9°F), in some places to –29°C (–20°F). During the day, temperatures will range from –5°C to –10°C (23°F to 14°F), with a cooling to –15°C (5°F) in places. In the region, as in the city, it will be mostly without precipitation, with icy roads in places.

On the night of 6 February, temperatures in Novosibirsk will be between –14°C and –16°C (7°F to 3°F), with a possible rise to between –9°C and –11°C (16°F to 12°F) by morning. During the day, the air will warm to between –1°C and +1°C (30°F to 34°F). The wind will shift to a southerly direction, blowing at 3–8 m/s at night, with occasional gusts up to 13 m/s. During the day, wind speeds will reach 7–12 m/s, with gusts up to 17 m/s in places.

At night, precipitation is mostly absent, with light and wet snow expected during the day.

In Novosibirsk Oblast, on the night of 6 February, temperatures are expected to drop to between –9°C and –14°C (16°F to 7°F), in some places to –19°C (–2°F); during the day, temperatures will range from –4°C to +1°C (25°F to 34°F), with a decrease to –10°C (14°F) in places. At night, precipitation is mostly absent, with light, locally moderate snow in the northwest. During the day, precipitation is expected, heavy in places, with icy conditions and blizzards.

On the night of 7 February, temperatures in Novosibirsk will be between –5°C and –7°C (23°F to 19°F), during the day — between –5°C and –7°C, dropping to between –11°C and –13°C (12°F to 9°F) by evening. The wind will be northwesterly, with speeds of 7–12 m/s at night, gusts up to 17 m/s. During the day, wind speeds will be 4–9 m/s, with gusts up to 14 m/s in places.

At night, snow, including wet snow, will fall in the city, with possible blizzards. Light snow is expected during the day.

In Novosibirsk Oblast, on the night of 7 February, the thermometer will hold at between –11°C and –16°C (12°F to 3°F), with a cooling to –23°C (–9°F) in places. In the east of the region, temperatures will range from –4°C to –9°C (25°F to 16°F). During the day, the air will warm to between –8°C and –13°C (18°F to 9°F), locally to –18°C (0°F). In the east — between –2°C and –7°C (28°F to 19°F).

During the night hours, precipitation is possible in the region, heavy in places in the form of wet snow, icy conditions and blizzards. In the west — light snow. During the day, light snow showers are expected in places.

It was recently reported that a southern cyclone with warmth, snow and gusty winds will arrive in Novosibirsk Oblast. A thaw is expected on 6 February.
