Meteorologists Forecast New Cold Spell for Novosibirsk Region

A new cold wave is set to hit Novosibirsk and the surrounding region over the next three days, with temperatures dropping below -30°C (-22°F) in some areas.

In Novosibirsk and the region, temperatures are expected to fall again over the next three days, according to the West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service.

According to meteorologists, on Tuesday in Novosibirsk, the air temperature at night may drop to -23°C (-9°F), while during the day it will remain between -17°C (1°F) and -19°C (-2°F). Wind speeds will be 4–9 m/s, with no precipitation expected.

On Wednesday, February 4, nighttime temperatures will range from -21°C (-6°F) to -23°C (-9°F), with suburbs possibly seeing -26°C (-15°F). During the day, the air will warm to -13°C (9°F) to -15°C (5°F). The day will be dry, with wind speeds not exceeding 8 m/s.

Conditions will improve slightly on Thursday. On February 5, daytime temperatures in Novosibirsk will be from -10°C (14°F) to -12°C (10°F), with overnight lows possibly falling to -19°C (-2°F) to -21°C (-6°F). Winds will strengthen to 4–9 m/s during the day.

Meanwhile, the wider region will be significantly colder. On Tuesday night, temperatures may reach -29°C (-20°F), and on Wednesday some areas could cool to -31°C (-24°F). By Thursday, air temperatures are not forecast to drop below -21°C (-6°F) to -27°C (-17°F).
