Kuzbass Faces Return of Frost Below -35: Forecast

Abnormal frosts in Kuzbass persisted for a week, causing multiple utility failures and heating problems for residents.

According to forecasters, on Thursday night, temperatures outside for Kuzbass residents will again drop to -21…-26 degrees Celsius (-6…-15°F). In some areas, the long-awaited warming will bring temperatures from -15 to -20 degrees Celsius (5 to -4°F). The north of the region will continue to be tested by frosts — -28…-33 degrees Celsius (-18…-27°F).
With the departure of dusk, the air will warm up to a pleasant -13…-18 degrees Celsius (9…0°F), locally -24 degrees Celsius (-11°F). Residents of the south will be pleased with sunshine and temperatures from -7 to -12 degrees Celsius (19…10°F).
Meanwhile, the east wind will remain calm. Due to the calm, haze may be observed outside. Additionally, dangerous ice for drivers will persist on the roads.
Thursday will be cloudy, but precipitation will return — light, locally moderate snow.
In Kemerovo, the nearest night will see temperatures of -21…-23 degrees Celsius (-6…-9°F). During the day, the thermometer will rise to -16…-18 degrees Celsius (3…0°F). Specialists also expect light snow.
