Krasnodar Krai Braces for Anomalous Frosts 14°C Below Average

Forecasters predict an abnormally cold start to February across southern Russia, with temperatures plunging well below seasonal averages.
In Krasnodar Krai, a sharp cold snap is expected in the first half of next week, with air temperatures projected to be 8–14°C below the climatic norm.
According to meteorologists, abnormally cold weather will set in over a significant part of the country«s south starting Monday. In some areas of Kuban, the minimum temperature could drop to -13…-21 °C (9…-6°F).
Severe frosts are also forecast for neighboring regions. In Volgograd Oblast, temperatures will fall 14–15°C below the norm, with frosts down to -26 °C (-15°F). In Rostov Oblast, from February 2 to 4, thermometers may drop to -23 °C (-9°F), which is also notably below average long-term values.
Meteorologists note that such a serious cold snap is linked to the invasion of cold air masses and is of an anomalous character.
