Kazan ends 'Buran' plan after almost a week

Kazan will lift the «Buran» plan on the night of February 4, according to the city administration. It had been in effect since January 30 due to heavy snowfall.

“Starting from February 5, art, music, sports schools and schools of arts, community centers and youth clubs are returning to their normal schedule. Schools and kindergartens returned to in-person learning from February 4,” the administration said.

However, snow removal work continues, and the administration asks residents not to leave cars along the street network.

Recall that the «Buran» plan was introduced on January 30 at 18:00 and was expected to last 3 days. The plan includes an intensified mode of work for city services and full-capacity operation of snow-melting stations. On February 2, it was decided to extend.

Due to worsening weather, there was ice, traffic jams and transportation chaos in the city and on the highways. Because of the snowfall, bus services in the city and nearby settlements stopped running.
