Forecasters from the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Upper Volga Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring» (FGBU «Verkhne-Volzhskoye UGMS») report that frosty weather will continue in Nizhny Novgorod in the coming days. Residents are advised to dress warmly when going outside.
On the night of Saturday, 24 January, thermometers will drop to −22°C (−8°F). During the day, temperatures will be around −18°C (0°F). Precipitation is largely not expected, but brief snow is possible in the morning.
On Sunday, 25 January, the cold snap will continue: at night down to −23°C (−9°F), during the day down to −18°C (0°F). The sky will be clear at times, with possible sunshine, and no precipitation is forecast.
Due to the persistent frost, traditional winter patterns resembling icy lace have appeared on the windows of Nizhny Novgorod residents. Each such pattern is unique.
