Forecasters: Sharp Warming for Voronezh After Bitter Frosts

Severe frosts will persist in Voronezh Oblast almost until the end of the week. This was reported by the regional Hydrometeorological Center.

In the coming days, the region is expected to have variable cloudiness, mostly without precipitation. On the afternoon of February 3, the area will see 15–20 degrees below zero Celsius (5–-4°F). In Voronezh itself, daytime temperatures are expected to be 18–20 degrees below zero (0–-4°F).

On Wednesday, February 4, in the oblast, nighttime temperatures will be 26–31 degrees below zero (-15–-24°F), with the south slightly warmer at 23–28 degrees below zero (-9–-18°F). During the day, thermometers will show 14–19 degrees below zero (7–-2°F). In the city of Voronezh, nighttime is expected to be 28–30 degrees below zero (-18–-22°F), and daytime 17–19 degrees below zero (1–-2°F).

On Thursday, February 5, it will become slightly warmer. Across the oblast, nighttime is forecast to be 23–28 degrees below zero (-9–-18°F), and daytime 11–16 degrees below zero (12–3°F). In Voronezh, nighttime will be around 26–28 degrees below zero (-15–-18°F), and daytime 14–16 degrees below zero (7–3°F). The weather will remain without precipitation.

However, by the upcoming weekend, the situation will change dramatically. As early as Saturday, February 7, significant warming is expected. According to the forecast, nighttime temperature will be around -11 degrees Celsius (12°F), and daytime will rise to -4 degrees Celsius (25°F). The cold Scandinavian anticyclone, which is currently determining the weather, will retreat.
