Dangerous Frost and Blizzard Grip Rostov Region

The Hydrometeorological Center warns that the start of the work week in Rostov-on-Don will be marked by frost and a blizzard, with strong winds expected.

Daytime air temperatures will range from -8 to -10 degrees Celsius (14 to 18 degrees Fahrenheit), while at night thermometers will drop to -14 to -16 degrees Celsius (3 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit).

The agency«s bulletin states: »No significant precipitation at night, but heavy snow and blizzard during the day. Icy conditions on roads, with snowdrifts forming by daytime.« Wind speeds will reach 15 meters per second, and the blizzard is set to continue into the night of February 3.

On Monday, snowfall is forecast across the entire Rostov region. In the south, rain is possible, and due to the frost, ice will form on roads. In the north of the region, overnight frosts are expected down to -26 degrees Celsius (-15 degrees Fahrenheit), and in the south to -18 degrees Celsius (0 degrees Fahrenheit). Daytime temperatures on average will be -6 to -15 degrees Celsius (5 to 21 degrees Fahrenheit).

Meteorologists report that the first week of February will be cold and snowy. Warming in the region will only occur by the beginning of the second decade of the month.
