Cyclone 'Patricia' Hits Krasnodar Krai, Forecasters Detail Weather Outlook
The cyclone brings a mix of snow, rain, and dropping temperatures across the region.
At the start of the new work week, bad weather has arrived in Kuban. According to forecasters from the weather center «Fobos», southern regions have been hit by cyclone «Patricia» — heavy snowfall and rains will begin. Previously, the krai was under the influence of cyclones «Francis» and «Harry».
«In Krasnodar Krai, wet snow and icy rains will occur at temperatures of −1…+1 °C (30…34 °F). In Sochi on February 3, heavy rains will occur, but the temperature will remain positive and drop to +1…+3 °C (34…37 °F) overnight into Wednesday,» the weather center reported.
The regional hydrometeorological center said that until February 3, rain turning into wet snow is expected in Kuban. Moreover, there will be heavy snow accumulation on wires and trees, ice, and possible fogs. In the north of the region, the temperature will plummet to -8…-13 °C (18…9 °F). Also, on the Black Sea coast, wind with gusts up to 15-20 m/s will blow.
In Krasnodar on February 2, rain with snow is forecast. Precipitation will start at lunchtime and end only by 19:00. According to «Yandex Weather», the city will have +1 °C (34 °F). On Tuesday, February 3, the city will cool down to -10 °C (14 °F), but it will feel like -5 °C (23 °F). Snow will fall all day. Approximately the same weather is expected on February 4.
