Starting tomorrow, we can confidently begin the countdown to spring. While temperatures in Irkutsk are expected to be manageable, the wind will surely disappoint city residents. Here«s the weather forecast for the Angara region on February 1.
In Irkutsk tomorrow, variable cloudiness is expected with no precipitation. Overnight, temperatures will drop to only -14°C (7°F), and during the day it will be -2 to -4°C (28 to 25°F). However, the southeast wind from Lake Baikal, blowing at speeds of up to 5–10 meters per second, will spoil the picture.
Across the region on February 1, expect variable cloudiness with light snow in places. In the northern, Verkhnelensk, and Chunsky districts, there will be light to moderate snow. The wind will be southwest to southeast, up to 5–10 meters per second with gusts up to 14 meters per second, causing blowing snow.
Overnight, temperatures will range from -13 to -18°C (9 to 0°F), clearing to -23 to -28°C (-9 to -18°F). In the Katangsky, Kirensky, and northeastern districts, it will drop to -28 to -33°C (-18 to -27°F), with local areas reaching -34 to -39°C (-29 to -38°F). In the west, temperatures will be only -5 to -10°C (23 to 14°F). During the day, expect -2 to -7°C (28 to 19°F), but with cloudiness, it could be -12 to -17°C (10 to 1°F). In the mountains of the Eastern Sayan and Southern Baikal region, daytime temperatures will be 0 to -5°C (32 to 23°F). Only in the northeastern districts on February 1, daytime temperatures are expected to be -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F).
