Bastrykin orders case after ice chunk hits Rostov woman
An elderly woman in Rostov was hospitalized after a massive icicle fell on her head, prompting Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin to order a criminal investigation into the incident.

Head of Russia«s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered a criminal case to be opened over a massive icicle that fell on the head of a Rostov pensioner, the department»s press service reports. On January 31, ice fell from the roof of a building at Kommunistichesky, 1/4, while the woman was walking on the path. The victim was taken to the hospital.
An inspection is being conducted by the Investigative Committee«s directorate for Rostov Region. Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional investigative department, Aslan Khuade, to report on the established circumstances and the results of the investigation once it is completed.
«The execution of the order has been placed under control in the central apparatus of the department,» the press service of Russia«s Investigative Committee reports.
As said the head of Sovetsky District Nikita Paremuzov, «necessary work» will be carried out regarding the management company that services the building on Kommunistichesky. Many Rostov residents have complained that icicles are not being removed from their buildings.
