Authorities Convene Commission Over Inaccessible Firewood
A meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (KChS) will be held on 4 February due to problems with firewood collection among residents of the village of Verkhnyaya Kuyenga in the Sretensky District of Zabaykalsky Krai. This was reported to a Chita.Ru correspondent by the district head, Alexei Zakurdaev.
The problems arose due to the lack of accessible logging plots in the forest. The allocated plots can only be reached by large vehicles or by helicopter.
«I am bringing in all the heads, we will hold the KChS today. We have invited the heads of the district forestry and the KGSAAU (Krayevoye Gosudarstvennoye Spetsializirovannoye Avtonomnoye Uchrezhdenie — Regional State Specialized Autonomous Institution). The acting head of the village approached me last week. I asked for lists of needy people. The problem has escalated recently. Among them are five families in which members are performing tasks for the special military operation — this causes particular concern and anxiety,» said the head.
He added that the problem of firewood collection is not new and is being addressed separately in each locality: «In the Kularkinskoye rural settlement, the situation is similar. Social facilities there were also at stake. We found a solution by directly contacting the minister to have a logging area allocated for municipal needs. For now, they have allocated deadwood. We will discuss Verkhnyaya Kuyenga today. I will contact the head of the forestry department to see if there is deadwood nearby that can be allocated for residents.»
The head added that a social partnership option is also being considered, under which access roads could be built to the hard-to-reach plots: «I will send my deputy along with the forester to survey the area.»
