Yekaterinburg to change several city routes and cancel some trips

The purchase of trolleybuses that can run without wires has enabled adjustments to urban transport routes.
On February 1, new municipal contracts for city transportation will come into effect in Yekaterinburg. The largest carrier, Gortrans, and nine commercial enterprises will transport residents.
No major changes are expected: transport operators will continue to work under the gross contract system, serving city routes, including 67 bus, 14 trolleybus, and 23 tram lines.
However, some interesting innovations will still occur. Several routes will have their paths altered, and some trips will be canceled altogether. This is due to the optimization of the route network being carried out by the city«s transport department. We will detail everything.
First Trolleybuses to ZhBI
Thus, for the first time in modern history, trolleybuses will run to ZhBI. This idea has long been nurtured in the mayor«s office, but there was no opportunity to implement it, since the microdistrict lacks a trolleybus contact network (it has been served only by buses and trams for many years). But now everything has changed: electric vehicles will travel there thanks to batteries that provide them with autonomous running. The first trolleybus route to ZhBI will be No. 25.
Updated route No. 25: Kraulya — 40 Let VLKSM
in the forward direction: Kraulya — Repina — Malysheva — Vysotskogo — 40 Let VLKSM;
in the reverse direction: 40 Let VLKSM — Vysotskogo — Malysheva — Repina — Kraulya.
At the same time, the old version of trolleybus No. 25 from Botanicheskaya to Akademicheskaya will be canceled. All rolling stock, accordingly, will serve the new trips.
Cancellation of Bus No. 25, Changes to Routes No. 84 and 94
Trolleybuses No. 25, which will run to ZhBI, will compensate for the cancellation of bus route No. 25. In recent years, it ran from the «Universitetsky» technopark via Malysheva to «Mega», now its routing will be divided among several trips.
Thus, the eastern wing of the canceled route No. 25 will be taken over by bus No. 94, which will start turning to the «Universitetsky» technopark. In turn, the western part of No. 25 will be taken over by bus No. 84. In the morning hours, it will run to the radio college according to the usual scheme, and later — to «Mega» (after the shopping center opens). At the same time, the number of buses on route 84 under the contract will be increased from 5 to 11 vehicles — more than double.

Cancellation of Trolleybus No. 39: Tabachnaya Fabrika — Belinskogo
This number will be canceled because it has long been duplicated by route No. 51: Yelizavet — Akademika Landau, which uses capacious articulated buses. Recall that Yelizavet is also served by bus route No. 47, where large-class vehicles also run.
Bus Route No. 78 to Become Longer
Bus No. 78 from TC «Leman Pro» — Khimmash will be extended to the «Sinye Kamni» stop. Vehicles will travel along Bazovy Lane.

More Articulated Buses to Arrive
In 2026, the Yekaterinburg mayor«s office will purchase another 15 articulated buses. These vehicles will immediately be directed to the busiest routes. Recall that the first batch, purchased in 2025, was decided to be distributed to routes No. 49 and 51.
In 2026, «articulated buses» will appear on routes: No. 50 UrFU — center — Shirokaya Rechka, No. 57 DMB No. 9 — Yelizavet, and No. 67 DMB No. 9 — microdistrict Solnechny.
In Yekaterinburg, since 2024, a transport reform has been underway, supervised by deputy head Rustam Galyamov. It involves the gradual replacement of outdated buses, trams, and trolleybuses, as well as adjusting routes for the convenience of residents. For example, recently mayor Alexey Orlov stated that the city will purchase fifty new trams.
All materials on the new transport reform are collected in a special section.
