In Yaroslavl, a search has been announced for a contractor who will carry out regular passenger transport on two tram routes for one and a half months. The total maximum contract price, as per the public procurement documentation, is 40.4 million rubles (approximately $404,000 at current rates).

In the contract project, it is stated: «The contractor undertakes to perform work related to the implementation of regular passenger and baggage transport by municipal ground electric public transport at regulated tariffs on municipal regular transport routes within the city of Yaroslavl.»

The following routes are involved:

  • Route No. 5R «Hospital No. 9 — RIO Shopping Center». It will be necessary to deploy 10 units of rolling stock on the line.
  • Route No. 6R «RIO Shopping Center — Blyukhera Street». Two trams will be required to service it.

The acceptance of applications from potential auction participants will last until January 29, 2026. The auction itself is scheduled for January 30.

Previously, contracts for similar transport in the city were won by JSC Yargorelektrotrans. For example, in December 2025, this company received a contract worth almost 10 million rubles (approximately $100,000 at current rates) for 10 days of work on routes No. 5 and 6, being the only participant in that tender.

It is worth noting that on December 15, 2025, 12 new trams were already deployed to service routes No. 5R and No. 6R.

Since 2023, a large-scale tram traffic modernization program has been implemented in Yaroslavl, carried out by the company Movista Regiony Yaroslavl under a concession agreement. The plans include:

  • Purchase of 47 new trams.
  • Renewal of track infrastructure.
  • Reconstruction of eight traction substations and two overpasses.
  • Modernization of the tram depot.

After the completion of all work, Movista Regiony Yaroslavl will manage the updated tram system for 20 years, receiving income from its operation.
