Yaroslavl Perekop: What Will Change After Karabulinskaya Interchange

Construction of the third bridge across the Volga, which will become part of the Karabulinskaya interchange, began in Yaroslavl in 2025. This was preceded by the development of a scheme for the interchange, carried out in 2022 by the Moscow-based «Giprostroymost Institute».

The interchange project includes five stages, with the third bridge (the fourth stage) decided to be built first. The first stage will take place in the Krasnoperekopsky district and will significantly change the local road network. This is a pre-design solution that will be refined, but there is a high probability that the main parameters will be preserved.

The 2.5-kilometer-long section of the Karabulinskaya interchange in the Krasnoperekopsky district will run from the intersection of Tolbukhin Prospekt with Bolshaya Fedorovskaya Street (from the bridge over the Kotorosl) to the intersection of Moskovsky Prospekt with Gogol Street. The road will be six lanes, with 3-meter-wide sidewalks along it.

At the intersections with Bolshaya Fedorovskaya Street and 1st Vokzalnaya Street (then over the railway), two-level transport interchanges are planned. This will allow maximum preservation of existing buildings and railway infrastructure. Traffic will be controlled by traffic lights.

To connect the interchange with adjacent areas and separate traffic flows by speed, side passages are provided. Under the overpass at the exit from the Tolbuzinsky Bridge and the new interchange at Bolshaya Oktyabrskaya, they plan to arrange an additional lane for turning around.
