The authorities of Volgograd have begun preparations for public hearings on the project to extend the Zero Longitudinal Highway in a northern direction. All project documentation has been posted on the official website of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture.

According to the plan, a new road section 236 meters long will be built. Its route will run from the intersection of Marshal Chuykov and Marshal Krylov streets, pass near the «Tourist» hotel, and then head north. The main task is to provide convenient vehicle access to residential buildings, public institutions, and enterprises. As part of the work, the relocation of a main water pipeline with a diameter of 1200 millimeters is also planned.

After construction is completed, a road 0.236 kilometers long will appear in the city. It will have two traffic lanes, each three meters wide. Sidewalks one meter wide and the organization of 155 parking spaces are also provided for.

Public hearings will be held from February 2 to February 20. Project materials can be reviewed at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at 7a Port-Saida Street. The exhibition will be open from February 2 to February 18 on weekdays from 10:00 to 12:00. Those wishing to do so can send their comments and suggestions directly to the department, through the «Gosuslugi» portal, or by leaving an entry in the journal on site.

Earlier, the «VYAZ» competence center proposed alternative ideas for the development of this part of the embankment. In the long term, architects considered the possibility of creating modern bases for sailing sports in the Krasnooktyabrsky District. Also among the plans is the revitalization of the «Monolit» stadium with the subsequent construction of a large athletics complex in its place.
