Tyumen struggles to build two major interchanges on arterial road

Tyumen authorities have named the reasons why it has not yet been possible to make Melnikayte Street an arterial road.

Recall that at least two more interchanges are supposed to appear there. The first is at the intersection with the main city street, Republic Street. According to the project, Melnikayte Street should go into a kind of tunnel, that is, pass under the existing road.

The second interchange will appear at the intersection with 50 Let Oktyabrya Street. According to the plan, the roundabout will remain, and a new overpass will be built over it.

Everything comes down to funding issues for these projects. At old prices, both interchanges would cost over two billion rubles (approximately $20 million at current rates). According to the latest data announced by the city administration, the new road facilities may appear by 2035 — again, if money is found.
