Tyumen residents angered by homemade signs, no detour

A section of Semakova Street in central Tyumen from Respubliki to Volodarskogo has been closed. Pipes are being replaced, and work will last almost two weeks. Drivers complain about a lack of warning signs and no detour. People have to take a long detour, and traffic jams form in the center.

«So, driving along Respubliki, I pass Kirova, which is a one-way street, then Semakova, where there«s construction, and I have to go past Turgeneva — also a one-way. Then I have to get onto Lenina, sit in traffic to Chelyuskintsev and then to the turn onto Volodarskogo. ... Wouldn»t it have been easier to temporarily make Turgeneva two-way?» — a 72.RU reader complains.

Several other people complained to the editorial office about the lack of warnings that the section is closed. We checked and confirmed: not only is there no detour, but any warning signs there are literally handmade.
Repair work on Semakova Street began on 2 February. As the city administration told reporters, the water utility workers are replacing 100 meters of pipeline due to an accident. The cause was damage to the sewer network by employees of some third-party organization. According to plans, work should be completed by 12 February.
«By the end of the week, workers will have to make three pits on the road, through which the new pipe will be inserted underground. By 12 February, the entire set of works will be completed and traffic will resume as normal,» the mayor«s office said.
Earlier we reported that due to an asphalt collapse, traffic was partially restricted near the intersection of Permyakova and Shirotnaya streets. Police had to ensure cars didn«t drive into the hole.
