Two crashes and truck jam on newly opened highway near Volgograd

On the R-228 highway Syzran — Saratov — Volgograd, witnesses report at least two crashes involving trucks, as well as a jam of trucks. The section of the road where the videos were taken was opened only this morning after previously imposed restrictions.
Recall that yesterday, January 30, in the evening, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (RSChS) reported on the closure of the R-228 highway Syzran — Saratov — Volgograd from the 512th to the 622nd kilometer due to bad weather. Today at 08:00, the restrictions were lifted «due to improved weather conditions.»
As seen in footage from V1.RU readers and local Telegram channels, at the entrance to Yerzovka (near Volgograd), i.e., on the 670th to 664th kilometers of the R-228 highway, several crashes occurred. One truck veered off the road into a ditch — according to a reader«s guess, due to heavy fog. The truck also took a pole with it.
In local Telegram channels, videos also appeared from the same highway, but a bit further — after the turn to Yerzovka, towards Dubovka. There, a truck and a home goods store chain truck collided, and then similar trucks and lorries got stuck in a jam one after another.
«The truck in the ditch isn»t blocking the road, there are no jams,« reports a V1.RU reader traveling on the R-228 highway. »But just after the turn to Yerzovka, towards Dubovka, there are many trucks and lorries, one open, full of goods. Overall, due to fog, there are many crashes on the highway.«
The V1.RU editorial office is clarifying the circumstances of the crashes with the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volgograd Region, and with the regional health department — the presence of casualties.
