Trams Stop in Yekaterinburg After Power Line Break
A break in the contact network halted multiple tram routes in Yekaterinburg's VIZ residential district on Tuesday afternoon, with full service restored after about two and a half hours.

On Dolores Ibárruri Street in the VIZ residential district, a jam of several trams formed. According to the city transport department, the incident occurred at 4:42 p.m. local time.
The issue affected seven tram routes in Yekaterinburg.
“The cause is damage to the contact network. Specialists are working on site,” the department reported.
In an official message, it was specified: “Affected routes No. 6, 7, 10, 13, 17, 21, 23. Traffic delay on the section before the «Krylova» stop towards the «Dvorets Molodyozhi» (Palace of Youth) stop.”
According to passengers and eyewitness accounts, people were asked to leave the trams, which stood empty.
Update: Tram traffic was fully restored approximately two and a half hours after the breakdown.
Recall that a week earlier, tram traffic was also paralyzed in the Uralmash district.
Then, the trams stopped due to the death of a passenger who urgently required medical assistance.
More often, the work of city electric transport is disrupted by road accidents.
For example, in mid-January, a car-sharing vehicle, having driven onto the tracks and gotten stuck, halted tram traffic in severe frost.
