Tram service on routes 5 and 6 was temporarily suspended in Irkutsk on the morning of February 5. The disruption was caused by an accident in the city’s water supply and sewerage networks.

The press service of the Irkutsk Mayor’s Office told IrCity that the halt is due to sewage surfacing near building No. 239/8 on Baikalskaya Street. The accident is not very serious, the amount of sewage is small, but because water got onto the rails, tram traffic had to be stopped.

Vodokanal employees are already working on site. As soon as they eliminate all consequences, public transport traffic will resume.

This is already the second accident at this location in the last few days. Last time, cold water surfaced, which happened on January 27. In addition, similar situations occurred twice near the Relay Factory stop, which also required stopping tram traffic.
