Tram Track Reconstruction to Temporarily Change Nizhny Routes

Reconstruction of a tram turnaround loop in Nizhny Novgorod«s Lapshikha neighborhood is set to begin.
The company «Ecological Projects» announced the start of work to reconstruct tram tracks at the turnaround loop in the Lapshikha neighborhood. The contractor will carry out a full replacement of the rail bed and the overhead contact network.
The main construction and installation work is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2026. The last major overhaul on this section was conducted in 1978.
Due to the reconstruction, the traffic patterns for three tram routes will be temporarily altered:
- Tram No. 18 has been switched to a circular route: «Tram Depot No. 1 — Osharskaya Street — Belinsky Street — Pushkin Street — Beketova Street — Kuznechikhinskaya Street — Tram Depot No. 1.»
- Tram No. 27 will run only between Moscow Railway Station and Maslyakova Street in both directions.
- Service on route No. 19 («Tram Depot No. 1 — Myza») is temporarily suspended.
Passengers heading to Belinsky Street will be able to transfer from tram No. 27 to tram No. 2 at the «Krasnoselskaya Street» stop.
Simultaneously, starting February 1, reconstruction will begin on the tracks from the turnaround loop on Igarskaya Street to the «Avtozavodskaya Metro Station» stop. As a result, routes No. 8 and No. 417 will be shortened and will run only to the specified metro station on Lenin Avenue.
