Tram delays in Nizhny Novgorod reach 80 hours

Residents of Nizhny Novgorod are once again being urgently asked not to park near tram tracks. Cars hinder both the passage of public transport and snow removal on the roads. As reported by NN.RU to LLC «Environmental Projects», the total downtime of trams due to careless drivers in January amounted to more than 80 hours.
Such cases have been regularly recorded in the city recently. Some drivers did not calculate the distance between a parked car and a passing tram, while others simply left their car right on the tracks.
Drivers were reminded that stopping and parking on tram tracks entails administrative liability and a fine of 1,500 rubles (about $16 at current rates).
Incidentally, not only parked cars but also snow hinder the passage of public transport. For example, yesterday, tram No. 8 service was temporarily halted. One of the cars derailed. The tracks were not cleaned in time. Read more about this in our material.
