Tram 21 returns on Leninsky route this summer

Tram route No. 21, connecting the center of Nizhny Novgorod with Leninsky District, was temporarily canceled in late 2025. The reason was the replacement of old rails on the section from Komsomolskaya Square to Dubki Park.
According to the Center for Transport Systems Development, the return of tram No. 21, running from Cherny Prud to Dubki Park, to the line is scheduled for summer 2026. Agency representatives reported this while answering residents« questions.
Contractors are to upgrade approximately 8.3 kilometers of track in single-track equivalent. The work, which began in December of last year, is to be fully completed no earlier than November of this year. During the reconstruction, tram route No. 3 has also been canceled.
To compensate for passenger inconvenience, a temporary bus route No. 52 was launched in December 2025. It runs from Gorky Square to the Proletarskaya metro station stop. Since late January 2026, its route has been adjusted to include the streets of Admiral Makarov and Dargomyzhsky.
