Train breakdown forces passengers to walk in freezing Nizhny Novgorod

A commuter train failure near a station led to passengers walking in sub-zero temperatures.
Passengers of a commuter train in the Nizhny Novgorod Region complained that they had to walk in the frost. This happened because the train broke down on the way and did not reach the station by 3 km. The situation was commented on by GZhD (Gorky Railway).
It concerns train No. 6801 «Nizhny Novgorod — Metallist». According to people on social networks, on the morning of January 24, the train broke down while approaching the «Kozhevennaya» station.
«RZD (Russian Railways) did not provide assistance. At a temperature of -23°C (-9°F), passengers, including pensioners and children, walked to the station. Why did the emergency services not respond to the emergency?» wrote one of the passengers on social networks.
NN.RU asked for a comment from the press service of GZhD, and they confirmed that the train breakdown did occur. But assistance was offered to people.
«Passengers of the train were offered to proceed to the Nizhny Novgorod-Moskovsky station, where corporate transport will be provided along the train»s route,« said GZhD.
At the time of the breakdown, there were 30 people on the train. Of these, 21 people decided to make their way from the «Okskaya» station on their own, 9 people reached the Moskovsky station. There, three people refused the corporate transport, and the remaining people used it and reached their desired destinations.
As for the broken-down train, with the help of an auxiliary locomotive, it was returned back to the Moskovsky station, the train delay was 1 hour 40 minutes.
«Gorky Railway apologizes to passengers for the inconvenience caused,» concluded the organization.
