Tomsk authorities report catastrophic shortage of bus drivers on one route
A bus route linking Southern Gates to Tomsk is operating at half capacity due to a critical driver shortage, officials say.

Authorities are stepping up checks on bus routes following reports of severe driver shortages.

Only half of the buses on route 510 are operating in Tomsk and the Tomsk district due to a driver shortage, Tomsk district head Pavel Khryachkov announced on his Telegram channel.
«The shortage of personnel among carriers is the main problem at the moment. This directly affects the number of buses coming onto the route,» said Pavel Khryachkov.
On route 150, out of 7 buses stipulated by contract, only 6 are actually working. On route 119, out of 12 buses, 8 are on the route. The most difficult situation is on route 510: out of 24 buses stipulated by contract, only 11 are operating.
Carriers that violate contract terms are fined.
Officials will enhance monitoring of all bus services. Separately, officials drew attention to route 112B when it travels from Tomsk to Severny Park, and route 150 on the extended route to the end of Sovetskaya Street in the village of Kislovka.
