Yekaterinburg students have criticized the new bus route to the Universitetsky Technopark. Changes in public transport schedules almost always draw criticism from Yekaterinburg residents. The latest changes, effective from 1 February 2026, were no exception. In the new version of city transportation, the Transport Department decided to remove bus route No. 25, which ran from the center of Yekaterinburg to the ZhBI district and then to the Universitetsky Technopark.

During the day, bus route 94 was half-empty.

The canceled route was replaced by trolleybus No. 25 (VIZ — center — ZhBI) and bus route No. 94 (UrFU — ZhBI — Universitetsky Technopark — Novo-Sverdlovskaya Thermal Power Plant). The latter caused outrage among students who travel to the Universitetsky Technopark for classes. The main complaints are about the vehicles. Instead of large buses, route 94 uses mid-size buses that are much less spacious.

«I am studying in a vocational program; our specialized subjects are taught at the technopark because they have equipment for my specialty. In January we took bus No. 25 there at 8–9 a.m.,» said a student named Alexander. «The cabin was packed with passengers, and I was literally falling out of the door at stops. And now we students have been switched to route 94. The passenger flow hasn»t changed, but the buses have shrunk!«

Passengers also complained about the schedule. The earliest route 94 trips (before 07:30) do not stop at the technopark. Students have no choice but to get off on the highway and walk through the forest.

«On Monday, the bus was 20 minutes late, and there was already a big crowd of students. Then, near the Professorskaya stop, elderly women started getting on and pushing us,» Alexander complained.

According to students, the Ural Polytechnic College, where they study, did not ignore the problem and contacted the city hall. The city«s Transport Department said they are looking into the complaints about route 94.

«A number of meetings have been held, including with the college. Next week, the number of buses will be increased, and consequently, intervals will be shortened,» the Transport Department assured E1.RU.

It should be noted that currently only three buses operate on route 94. Crowding occurs during peak hours, while during the day the buses are half-empty.
